June 26th, 2020 – John Devaney, MBA, CPA, has been appointed as the new President of CPA Ireland at the 77
th Annual General Meeting of members in Dublin today.
Addressing the members at the AGM, he called for more considerable government support to assist SME’s in the aftermath of lock-down.
Mr. Devaney became a member of CPA Ireland in 1992 was appointed to Council of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland (CPA Ireland) in April 2012.
John trained with O’Gorman Brannigan Purtill & Co. in Clonmel for 5 years before heading to London. In the UK John has gained experience in Audit Practice, Animal Pharmaceuticals, the Music Industry, Outsourcing and Natural Gas Distribution. John is currently Associate Director at EFM UK & Ireland.
Also, at the AGM, Mark Gargan, was elected to the position of Vice President. A CPA since 1999 and was appointed to Council in 2016. He has spent over 20 years in practice and is currently a Partner in Niall Byrne & Company. He has also represented CPA Ireland on the CCAB-I Business Law committee since September 2007.
