Update on Amalgamation with Chartered Accountants Ireland

On 11 July 2024 the High Court sanctioned CPA Ireland’s proposed scheme of arrangement which will facilitate CPA Ireland’s amalgamation with Chartered Accountants Ireland.  The amalgamation will become effective on the 1st of September this year and will create the largest professional body on the island of Ireland. Following the amalgamation, our unified organisation will have a stronger voice and be better positioned to advocate on behalf of our profession.

The final High Court sanction is a crucial step in a process that started with the endorsement of the amalgamation by our membership in February (before being formally approved by our membership in May) and which has involved continuous engagement by both CPA Ireland and Chartered Accountants Ireland with their members and with IAASA and other regulatory bodies.  The leadership teams in both CPA Ireland and Chartered Accountants Ireland will continue to liaise together on an ongoing basis as we prepare for the amalgamation and approach the 1st of September.

We will continue to engage with members and respond to any queries you may have over the coming months, and we will ensure that you are kept up-to-date on all happenings ahead of the 1st of September.

We look forward to continuing to represent your interests in our renewed Institute.
