Individuals Charged with Company Law Offences

 

Arising from an investigation by the Office of the Director of Corporate Enforcement (“ODCE”), Mr. Robert Browne, 52, with an address at Treanlawn, Killoe, Co. Longford, appeared before Dublin District Court on the 24 March 2022.
Mr. Browne faces 14 charges of Providing False Information contrary to Section 876 of the Companies Act 2014.
The charges follow an investigation by the ODCE in relation to the unauthorised and unlawful use of an Auditors Registrations Number in the submission of annual returns to the Companies Registration Office.
Detective Garda Keith Gorman, an officer of the ODCE, informed the Court that the DPP has directed that the accused be sent forward to the Dublin Circuit Court for trial on indictment.
Mr Browne was remanded on continuing bail to 3 June 2022 for service of the book of evidence.
In a separate case also arising from an investigation conducted by the Office of the Director of Corporate Enforcement in relation to company law offences, Mr. Kooi Yeap, 47, (also known as Keith Yeap) with an address at Main Street, Bray, Co. Wicklow, appeared before Dublin Circuit, Criminal Courts of Justice, on the 10 March 2022. Judge Melanie Greally convicted Mr Yeap and sentenced him to 120 hours community service in lieu of a 9-month custodial sentence in relation to each of the counts on the indictment.
Mr. Yeap had pleaded guilty to four charges of Providing False Information contrary to S.876 of the Companies Act 2014 on the 19 July 2021.
All charges arose following a multi-jurisdictional investigation by the ODCE into the fraudulent use of auditor registration number details.
