Welcome to the August 2024 edition of Practice Plus.

In the final edition of Practice Plus we bring you details of an amalgamation hub including resources and FAQs to support the transition by practitioners to Chartered Accountants Ireland.
We remind practitioners of the adjustment to the size criteria for companies and groups and note an IAASA consultation to revise the Ethical Standard for Auditors.

Guidance on the transition to Chartered Accountants Ireland
CPA Ireland and Chartered Accountants Ireland will amalgamate on 1 September 2024.
An Amalgamation Resource, including FAQs, has been developed to support practitioners in the transition.

Adjustments of Size Criteria for Companies and Groups
Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Peter Burke TD, has signed into law the European Union (Adjustments of Size Criteria for Certain Companies and Groups) Regulations 2024 which increases the balance sheet and turnover thresholds for ‘micro’, ‘small’, ‘medium’ and ‘large’ companies in the Companies Act 2014 by 25 per cent.

To assist members in compiling and reporting on Financial Statements of entities not subject to Audit, CPA previously issued the Miscellaneous Technical Statement - M14 (Revised). The most recent issuance of this was in May 2019. This statement is now hereby withdrawn.
