Training Records – Log your Training for 2021 and 2022 by 28 February 2023

Due to upcoming changes on the online Training Record System, we are accepting training for 2021 and 2022 up to 28 February 2023.

Students are reminded of the requirement to log training and submit it to the Institute for review. To comply with the Institute’s Bye Laws, training should be submitted, at a minimum on an annual basis, with the final date for logging training for each year falling at the end of January in the following year.

However, students are encouraged to submit their training each quarter. This ensures:
  • A quarterly review with your mentor to discuss and approve your training.
  • Accurate and timely submission of training.
  • Creation of a good habit – it’s easier to log one quarter than a full year!
  • Regular feedback from the Institute, highlighting any issues. This ensures that every student is on track to meet the Institute’s requirement in terms of depth and breadth of training.
All training must be submitted through MyCPA and approved by your mentor for each quarter. Students will receive an email confirming approval of records and a final email confirming training is complete when the Institute’s training requirements have been met.

Please remind your mentor to close each quarter so the Institute is informed and we can review your training as soon as possible.

Students who do not comply with the requirement to log their training, may find that although they have more than three year’s relevant experience, they are unable to apply for membership on completion of examinations, as they do not have sufficient training logged and accepted by the Institute.

Students are reminded of the requirement to be able to demonstrate in-depth competence in at least two of the six training areas as required. Detailed information about the Institute’s training requirements may be found on the CPA Ireland website.

All training must be signed off by a qualified accountant who is a current member of a professional accountancy body which is a member of IFAC. Typically, in Ireland our students are supervised by a member of CPA Ireland, ACCA, CAI or CIMA. If you need any assistance in registering your mentor on the online training record system, please contact Brenda Dolan (bdolan@cpaireland.ie).

Upcoming changes to the Online Training Record System

In order to ensure compliance, we are planning to make some changes to the online training record system. This will mean that students will be able to backdate training by 4 quarters at a maximum. To facilitate this transition, we are accepting any outstanding training for 2021 and 2022 but this must be logged and submitted to the Institute by 28 February 2023 at the latest.
