CPA Ireland and Chartered Accountants Ireland Amalgamation Information

CPA Ireland and Chartered Accountants Ireland have agreed to amalgamate under Chartered Accountants Ireland. The amalgamation is expected to take effect on 1 September 2024, but the exact date is subject to change.

What does this mean for CPA Ireland?
CPA Ireland is continuing to accept student registrations up to the 15th of July 2024. Should you wish to register with CPA Ireland an exemption review will be completed confirming your remaining exams and how they will be mapped against the Chartered Accountants Ireland syllabus and examinations.


What exams will you complete after the amalgamation?
If you are eligible to sit the CPA Ireland Strategic Level exams, you will have the option to complete the 4 Strategic Level exams or FAE exams and have up to 3 years to do so. Upon successfully completing the exams and training experience requirements, you can apply for Associate membership of Chartered Accountants Ireland.

Should you have any CPA Ireland Foundation and/or Professional exams to sit, you will transfer to the Chartered Accountants Ireland syllabus examinations and complete any remaining CAP 1/CAP 2/FAE examinations. Upon successfully completing the exams and experience requirements, you can apply for Associate membership of Chartered Accountants Ireland.

What are the benefits of registering with CPA Ireland now?

  • This is the final opportunity to register and receive exemptions from the Chartered Accountants Ireland exams on a subject-by-subject basis as noted in the mapping table here. The registration deadline is July 15th, 2024.
  • Upon successfully completing the exams and training experience requirements, students can apply for Associate membership of Chartered Accountants Ireland and receive ACA and CPA designation.
